What percentage does a broker take in the sale of a business?

business broker
Max asked:

I would like to find out how much I should expect to pay a broker/agent to sell my restaurant business in a mall eatery. I’m sure it goes by percentage so what percentage should I expect to pay the broker. Also, does the buyer also pay the broker a certain percentage?

Thank you

  1. Barbara R Says:

The percentage you will pay is the percentage placed by a mutual agreement between you and the broker. Check with each broker in your area for an idea of what they will ask for for the services. A buyer can certainly pay for services of a “Buyer Broker” if hired, that is a seperate contract between them.

    Good Luck!
