I’ve been trying to do the same. both are good…the stock broker works on wall street & is faster rate work & the investment broker can have an independent practice or for a bank & is a calmer work. Education: Business Finance then MBA focus in finance if you want to continue school or a grad student Vanity

I dont think there is a difference between the two. There are quite a few terms in the industry that can mean the same thing. An investment advisor could also be called a financial advisor and if he does financial planning, he could be called a financial planner even if he isnt a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). A stock (or investment) broker’s job is to sell specific investments to as many people as possible. The pay can be great or it could be terrible. You will realize if you can make it or not quickly. It doesnt take any degrees, despite what the person above me said. Pass your licensing exams with the NASD and thats it. You dont need a college degree or MBA. Although, of course it would help. djkolbe

a stock broker is an agent, he matches up buyers and sellers on the stock market. he buys and sells on behalf of the customer and charges them a fee. investment broker or investment advisor is similar to a stock broker but a stock broker may or may not be an investment broker/adviser
