I found the business, Use a business broker? Commission?

business broker
GP asked:

I know that when they sell a business they get 10%. Well I found the business myself, and only want to use them to help me through the deal, as I have never done this before. What is a good fee to pay them? He said he would help me write the contract and secure financing. I don’t mind paying a reasonable fee, but how much?

Why insert a middle man? Get yourself a good accountant who can look at the books and give you a reasonable idea of the value and help you with the financing - an attorney is needed for the contract.
Some warnings. We use to get logo shirts from company X - they sold to one of their employees. That employee didn’t get the customer list with the company. You need to protect yourself and get a non-compete clause - all the things your accountant and lawyer can get you through.
