How much is an average real estate broker making in California these days?

I live in IL and i know there are a lot more bigger homes out in CAL..so i thought i could make up to around 150,000 to 600,000 if i started my own business out there be a broker for selling big homes at 5%…please tell me if i am correct on my salary…..Fast answers get 5 stars

    Realistically no. Most new Realtors (even if you’re not new to the business, just the area) don’t even make 100K a year, much less the numbers you’re suggesting. It’s common knowledge that the Realtors that farm an area and are common household names are the ones that get most of the market share. So even though you might have luck picking up a few homes, the big names will generally get the exclusive listing agreement/contract when they show up and give their rather impressive listing presentations. Realistically if you want to make that much, you really have to pay your dues or have enough startup money to farm, farm, farm.

    You can make big money as a real estate agent, but it’s not easy. You need to focus on one particular area and then really work to make yourself known to all of the buyers and sellers in that area. This can take years. However, if you succeed, you will have a lot of in-bound calls. Simply take the listing, service it, and the 3%-6% commission is yours!
