Can starting a business, like Mary Kay, somehow effect your ability to have your brokers’ license?

A friend of mine joined MK, but she mentioned it and was questioned by compliance at her work. They said she could lose her license by being a consultant. Howso?

Unless they are looking at the point of it being a conflict of interest, I really don’t see how it would conflict with her getting her broker’s license.

As long as she doesn’t sell it while at work, discuss it with clients, and/or co-workers, I really don’t see how they can dictate to her what she can and cannot do in her private time. However, if she has talked to co-workers or clients on company time, the company has every right to put their foot down to the point of advising her she could lose her job if she persists.

I work a full time job but I keep my MK business out of it due to company policies. However, if I’m asked about it…it’s a whole new ball game. The same applies for your friend. If she is approached from someone wanting to purchase it, get a book, mail a book, what’s the website, etc. then she can respond. The company really won’t have a leg to stand on when a different employee approached her about it. She was asked, therefore she answered.

    Hope this helps.

I don’t understand why. Mary Kay Inc is not a publicly traded company. I would question it. I had my 6 & 63 when I started my MK business and worked for a large finacial instution we have to complete forms for any other employment and they had no problem with it.

Some jobs will not let you have other jobs. You just want to check with your employer. most businesses are fine with it though.
